Website Redesign

Columbus Metropolitan Library

The Problem.

CML had an outdated website that was in serious need of a modern refresh & a totally new website redesign.

The Columbus Metropolitan Library has a demographic that spans from children to the elderly, included those with some accessibility needs. As part of the redesign, it included stakeholder interviews, an accessibility & content audit, along with extensive customer journey evaluations and a UX strategy that made the entire website accessible by all.

Another key part of this project involved a complex plan for increasing engagement, enhancing the user journey to get more library members to access online-only resources, and helping the library in their efforts to remain in close connection with their customer through the COVID19 pandemic.

My Role.

Over the course of 6 months, I was responsible the full-scale redesign of the CML website—including wireframes, usability & accessibility audits, and building than 80% of the website in a visual builder (Elementor). The remaining 20% of the webite was custom web development that was designed in Figma and handed off to the Engineering team. We used a custom crafted, on-brand & usable component library that was responsive and fully customizable to the clients’ needs—with each component built with usability, accessibility and responsive attributes in mind.

Credit Where Credit Is Due

The initial design scheme of this project was a joint design effort with Tony Todoroff of Buckeye Interactive.
